Calling the Bridgerland Net, Calling the Bridgerland Net.
The Bridgerland Amateur Radio Club holds a weekly net Tuesday nights at 9:00 PM on the 146.72, the 147.26, the 145.31, the 147.20 and the 449.625 BARC Repeater System with a PL tone of 103.5.
It is a directed net and we invite all licensed Amateur Radio Operators to check in and participate.
During the weekly net we have announcements for upcomming events including HF contests.
One of the ways you can participate is to be the Net Control Station. If you have agreed to be the Net Control Station, or if no one else has started calling net, the attached BARC Net Preamble may be of use to you.
If you do not have a copy of the roll, calling by geographical areas such as outside of Cache Valley, North of Logan, West of Logan, South of Logan and Logan is a useful way to break the check-ins into smaller groups.
We hope to hear you on the Net.
The following sites publish information on other area nets:
* Ogden Amateur Radio Club - OARC
* Davis County Amateur Radio Club - DCARC
* Utah Amateur Radio Club - UARC
We have a forum topic, The Listening Post, for nets and other times when you are likely to hear fellow Cache Valley hams on the air. Please share what you hear. We will draw on this information for a column of the same title in our monthly newsletter.
When you talk to someone about ham radio, likely the first question they will ask is "What is the farthest you have talked to someone?" While we can easily get around the world using Internet and telephone links, we know that they are referring to the image of the Ham sitting at their radio calling CQ and hoping for a weak signal response from someone around the world, carried via "high frequency" radio waves. This year we have started including HF contest and band condition reports in our weekly VHF/UHF net to help spark new interest in this age-old art of chasing DX and practicing your HF skills in contests. Ernie, KB7ZNH has stepped up to the mic to provide this information as well as HF operating tips which you will find in this part of the site. One of the resources Ernie uses for HF contests lists is the eight day contest calendar compiled by WA7BNM. If you have any feedback on this part of the site or the HF topic in the weekly club nets, feel free to email Ernie at kb7znh@yahoo.com.

Please RSVP for the upcoming exam here...
Please check back on this site the week of the exam for any updated information
You can speed things up by filling out and printing this application for examination form. www.arrl.org/files/file/ncvec605-3.pdf
You will need a FCC issued FRN number instead of your Social Security #. You can register and obtain an FRN online at the FCC ULS website here. If you already have a license issued by the FCC, you can look it up by doing a query for your callsign here.
Please put your FRN number on the 605 form instead of your SS#. If you need help getting your FRN, we will be happy to help you at the exam session.
All license exams will be given on paper.
Technician and General Class licensees wishing to take a test to upgrade, must bring a copy of their current license that we can keep. If you have not received your license in the mail because you just recently passed your exam, then bring your CSCE.
You can locate other testing sessions in the region. It is possible to find a test session every month somewhere in northern Utah or southeastern Idaho.

Upcoming ARRL VEC-listed sessions within 100 miles of Logan.
This topic gives a little overview of some of the Amateur Radio Clubs and Organizations "near" the Bridgerland Amatuer Radio Club (BARC). The summaries are based on information gleaned from web sites, old emails, failing memories and possible hearsay with a little humor. We hope the list proves to be useful and realize that it can quickly fall out of date.
If you know of a club that isn't listed and seems to be within a hundred miles or so of Logan Utah or has other reasons for being listed, please let us know. The same goes for any corrections. Just send an email to the webmaster at barconline.org.
