A week and a few days ago I was enjoying the warm weather and thought we might be able to vent a little cabin fever with a Radio Direction Finding activity (locally called a bunny hunt), but the snow last weekend dampened my hopes. Monday the forecast for club meeting weekend was cold and snow, and the weather man hasn't varied his position as we have drawn closer to the weekend.
This morning I stepped outside and thought brrr, let's stay inside.
So, bring your grab and go kits!
What is a grab and go kit? Not sure if you have one? What would you grab if there had been some kind of emergency this morning and requests were being made for amateur radio operators. What would you bring? Let's start with that this morning.
Looking for ideas on where to go from there? There are lots of ideas and resources all over the Internet, but in an interest of building a kit core that will sync with other hams in the valley who are specializing in emergency preparedness, start with the resources on the Northern Utah ARES site, especially the Grab-n-Go Kit. Other items like the ARES Level 1 Certification can give you a goal to seek next.
