Fall 2011 Technician Class License Course

Amateur Radio License Class begins 27 Oct 2011 in Logan, Utah An amateur radio license class to help prepare a student to successfully pass the Federal Communications Commission's Technician Class License exam will be held at 19:00 on six consecutive Thursday evenings beginning 27 October 2011 excluding Thanksgiving Day. The FCC dropped the Morse Code test from the exam in February 2007. The exam date and time is Saturday, 10 Dec 2011, 8:00am in room 108 of the Agricultural Systems Technology and Education Building on 1498 North 800 East, Logan, Utah. The dates of the class are 27 Oct, 3 Nov, 10 Nov, 17 Nov, 1 Dec, 8 Dec. The location of the class is in the Bonneville Room at the Logan Library on 255 North Main, Logan, Utah. Prospective students should send an e-mail to ad7vf@arrl.net. There is no fee to attend this class and all are welcomed. The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual is a very valuable resource both for preparing for the exam and for continued reference afterward. Students are encouraged to obtain their own copy. If there is sufficient interest the instructor will order manuals from the ARRL at a doubly discounted price of $20, compared to the regular price of $29.95 plus shipping. A handheld amateur radio transceiver can be obtained for $100 or more, or less. Volunteers who are currently licensed amateur radio operators and who would like some teaching opportunities are encouraged to express their interest by sending an e-mail to ad7vf@arrl.net. Additionally, volunteers are sought to participate with the class by mentoring and welcoming students to the community of Cache Valley amateur radio operators and by demonstrating the art and practice of amateur radio. Thank you for your help in promoting amateur radio in our community. Brent Carruth, AD7VF
